The Darkest Jungle is a book about the U.S. Darién Exploring Expedition in the 19th century. The expedition was tasked with exploring a narrow strip of land in Central America called the Darién to build a ship canal. The expedition faced challenges from rival explorers from England and France, as well as the harsh Darién wilderness.
