A poor excuse for a nation, only lasted a couple decades and was later overrun by the Germanic hordes.

Yes, and we laid the basis for your civilization to exist, and Roman Civilization itself lasted nearly 2000 years our innovations and progress are hailed worldwide as the defining aspects of western civilization.
