- Updates to Item Value Calculations
TL;DR: We’re updating how item values are calculated to prevent market manipulation. Value is now based on the median of recent, genuine player-to-player sales instead of a straight average. The new system automatically limits the impact of bulk selling and completely ignores suspicious "alt-account" trading. If you trade honestly, nothing changes for you, but you will notice some item values retroactively shifting over the next few days as the more accurate numbers roll out.
Hi all,
We’ve rebuilt the way an item’s average sales price is calculated, and you’ll begin seeing the new calculations reflect over the next few days. The goal here is simple: an item’s value should reflect actual sales between real players, and it should be very hard for anyone to artificially manipulate.
To make this happen, every time an item is resold between players, that sale is recorded. An item's value now comes exclusively from these genuine player-to-player sales rather than listing prices. Additionally, the new algorithm uses the median sale price instead of a straight average. With a standard average, a single outlier sale could falsely inflate an item's value. Using the median prevents those extreme spikes from skewing the data, ensuring the displayed value reflects where most actual transactions land.
The system is designed to follow an item's most recent sales so it keeps up with the market, while still holding onto enough history so that a quiet item can't be knocked around by a single transaction. To stop anyone from inflating value, no single player can dominate the calculation. Whether someone sells the same item over and over, or funnels sales to the same buyer repeatedly, only a limited number of those transactions will count. Furthermore, transactions that look like they are happening between the same player’s accounts are detected and excluded from the math entirely. The sales will still go through, but they will have zero effect on the item’s value.
For most of the community, this means that if you trade honestly, nothing changes. Your real sales are exactly what set an item's value, and the numbers you see across the market will be much more trustworthy because they reflect genuine demand. As part of this rollout, some values are being corrected retroactively. We are recalculating across the shop, so a few items may shift to a more accurate number as we wipe out past sales that violated these new principles.
A fair, honest economy matters to us as much as it does to you, and we appreciate your help in keeping it that way. We are leaving this thread unlocked for your feedback and to help address any questions you might have, so please let us know what you think.

Are all the data points will be redone or only just moving forward ahead the new data points for each rare item?
My value just dropped by 28%, I didn't know market manipulation was THAT intense lol
