my grandfather has this laptop form 2004 and the backlight died so its impossible to read anything
this is also why you shouldnt buy older monitors from goodwill since they most likely have the same problem

does your laptop have any other ports or is it one of those dodgy new ones that are ultra thin and can easily crack
You could also repair the port or swap it for a new one, i had to do that when something broke on one of my things

its got other ports (USB and type c, along with the charger port (duh) Ethernet port & 2 others that I don't know what they're called its supposed to be a gaming laptop but that isn't the case anymore since its broken for the most part
i dont think a replacement is that expensive
yah but my dads the one who buys the stuff for me and id have to beg him to get a replacement for a laptop that has numerous other issues (doesnt connect to WiFi, no screen, barely holds charge, barely connects with ethernet, etc)

sure it takes a while to replace the port but if the laptop is expensive then id definitely do that
